A Little More About Your Guide

Hi! I'm Dawn. I have been in the Yoga, Meditation, and Wellness field since 2000, doing massage therapy since 2000, teaching yoga since 2010 with a 200 hour yoga certification in Vinyasa Flow / Hatha yoga and 200 hour certification in Kundalini Yoga, and practicing sound healing since 2015. I have degrees in biology (1999) and business (2005), and have studied music since I was a child. Using my extensive understanding of the mind/body connection, anatomy & physiology, the nervous system, and entrainment, my goal is to use gentle movement, breath, and sound as a way to heal and empower the self, helping people feel more at home and at ease in the body and in facing life's challenges. I have studied the brain, biofeedback, and how music affects our bodies and minds. I have isolated specific wave patterns on the sound healing instruments (gongs, singing bowls, and harmonium) to entrain the brain to the theta brainwave state for deep healing, intention setting, working with the subconscious mind, and activating the parasympathetic nervous system so the body can reset and direct its own healing mechanisms where they are most needed, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

I have worked with people in a variety of life situations, including those actively in cancer treatment, post cancer treatment, in grief, PTSD, facing anxiety, insomnia, and those searching for meaning, purpose, and support in life's many transitions. I have also played sound healing for those transitioning in death. I believe that sound is medicine for our times and I have dedicated my life to utilizing sound healing as a life support through vibration. I created a sound healing retreat center (Inner Wolf Retreat Space) in the mountains of western North Carolina to provide a sanctuary of healing, reset, and renewal amidst life's plot twists. Participants in every sound healing session feel the creation of a new neural pathway in the brain, and I coach how to take this newfound feeling and realization in the body and brain into the rest of the person's life, not just as a one-time experience.

Participants feel how sound healing helps to soothe and reset the nervous system. Life itself often feels quite traumatic to the mind, body, and spirit, and sound healing also helps to energetically clear these experiences stored and trapped in the body, so people can have greater ease, peace, and measurably less pain.

Fascinated by spirituality and music since I was a child, I grew up playing the violin, & I have studied the world's religions and new age philosophy, biofeedback, gong resonance & techniques, acutonics & tuning forks, harmonium and chanting, crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, anatomy & physiology, the nervous system, and entrainment. Some of my favorite teachers from whom I have soaked up information like a sponge in person are notably Mitch Nur, Mike Tamburo, Mike Cohen, Yogi Amandeep, KateBeloved Levensohn, Mehtab Benton, Ana Forrest, Kia Miller, Saul David Raye, Mas Vidal, Jai Dev Singh, GuruCharan Singh Khalsa, Sue Beck Retuta.

Authors & teachers I have made part of my study are Caroline Myss, Louise Hay, Eileen McKusick, James Redfield, Rumi, Lorin Roche, Amma, Osho, Yogi Bhajan, Pema Chodron, Deepak Chopra, Oprah, David Whyte, Mary Oliver and more.

Travel is a great passion of mine to expand views and perspectives of culture and traditions. I always seem to find the spirituality of the place--like seeing the whirling dervishes and also the great mosques in Istanbul, Turkey, spending time at the feet of great sages and swamis in India & the Himalayas, visiting Muslim villages amidst the sand dunes of the Sahara in Morocco, tapping in to the wisdom of the Oracle at Delphi in Greece, learning lomilomi in Hawaii, and in Egypt meditating in the sarcophagus of the Great Pyramid, in the ceremonial passageways of the Isis Temple, and in the mystery school of the Hathor Temple. I've explored a good bit of the United States as well (43 states), and been to many yoga and meditation retreats, festivals, and trainings. Throughout most of my travels I have toted an instrument or two with me.

The road of discovery is endless — it all starts with a pose and a thought, and expands into a never-ending path of self inquiry and growth. I value each and every person who joins me through my offerings and we look forward to helping you achieve your wellness goals.
